These are the rules for visiting Alafi Art Work. Using the site means accepting them. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable.
What this site is
Alafi Art Work is a gallery of original work by Alafi Jonathan: paintings, sketches, digital art, sculpture, portraits, graphics and comics. It is a place to look. Nothing is sold through the site, no account is needed to visit, and nothing you do here creates a contract to buy or commission anything.
If you want to buy a piece or commission one, that is agreed directly with the artist by email or phone, on terms set out at the time.
The work belongs to the artist
Every image on this site is an original work by Alafi Jonathan and is protected by copyright. You may look at it, share a link to it, and talk about it. You may not copy, download, print, reproduce, sell, adapt or otherwise use any of it, in whole or in part, for any purpose without written permission from the artist. That includes using it to train a machine-learning model.
Where the site makes an image awkward to save, that is deliberate. Where the artist’s name appears on a piece, leave it there.
Any visitor can like a piece and leave a comment under it, with a name or as “Guest”. Comments are public the moment they are posted and they sit under the artist’s work, so keep them about the work. Do not post anything abusive, threatening, obscene or discriminatory, any spam or advertising, or anyone’s personal details, including your own.
The artist may remove any comment at any time, for any reason, without notice. A like is a count, not a message, and cannot be taken back once counted.
You keep the copyright in what you write, and you give Alafi Art Work permission to display it on the site for as long as the site is up.
What you must not do
Do not scrape or bulk-download the gallery, run automated tools against it, impersonate the artist or anyone else in a comment, try to reach the owner’s dashboard, or attempt to break, overload or probe the site or the services behind it.
What we are and are not responsible for
The site is offered as it is, free to visit. We try to keep it available and accurate, but we do not promise either: a page may be down, a caption may be wrong, and a photograph of a piece is never quite the piece. Colours and scale on a screen differ from the original.
We are not responsible for what visitors write in comments, though we will remove ones that break these terms when we see them or are told about them. Nothing here removes rights you have under the consumer law of Uganda that cannot be signed away.
Enquiries, sales and commissions
Contact details are on the Contact page. Any sale, commission, exhibition or collaboration is a separate agreement between you and the artist, made directly. These terms do not govern it beyond saying so. The site does not take payments.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Uganda.
Changes
If these terms change in a way that affects you, we will say so on this page rather than quietly changing the date at the top.
